Shots fired at The Villas

No arrests have been made and an investigation continues into a “shots fired” call that occurred Monday night at The Villas of Carl Sandburg.

According to a police report, officers were called out to the apartments at around 7:23 where an 18-year-old male told them that he was attacked and shot at by an unknown subject who departed in a blue Honda.

The victim told police that he had come to the Villas to sell a phone when a black male allegedly grabbed him during the sale.

A fight broke out leading to the individual and the 18-year-old victim wrestling outside of the vehicle. During this time a gun was produced and at least two shots were reportedly fired.

Several witnesses were on the scene and shared similar stories of what happened.

A .22 shell casing was recovered, and a .22 handgun was found in the blue Honda when it was stopped a short time later in the 200-block of South Academy.

Two people were taken to the Public Safety Building for questioning.
