Funeral for fallen sheriffs deputy announced; court appearance held for accused shooter

UPDATED: Funeral arrangements have been announced for the Fulton County Sheriffs Deputy shot and killed in the line of duty two days ago.

WMBD-TV in Peoria reports a public visitation for 39-year-old Deputy Troy Chisum will be held Sunday from 2pm-8pm at Cuba High School. A funeral service will be held at the school the next morning (Monday) at 11.  CLICK HERE for the obituary from Henry-Lange Memorial Homes.

42-year-old Nathan Woodring was arrested Wednesday morning following a nearly 19-hour standoff starting with the shooting of Chisum. WMBD reports Woodring made his first appearance in Fulton County Circuit Court Thursday afternoon. A judge set bond at $5 million on charges of First Degree Murder. Woodring — who reportedly has had numerous run-ins with the law in both Knox and Fulton Counties over the years — will be back in court July 10th and is jailed in McDonough County in the meantime.

A GoFundMe account has been set up for Chisum, and you can find a link to it by CLICKING HERE. Authorities say there have been a number of potentially fraudulent accounts set up since Tuesday also purporting to raise money for Chisum’s family, but there is only one GoFundMe page they’ve deemed legitimate.
