Tinsley Ellis brings his blues rock to Galesburg

There’s a blues/rock guitarist coming to Galesburg tomorrow night who, according to Rolling Stone Magazine, “rivals Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton.” According to Billboard, “nobody has released more consistently excellent blues albums than Atlanta’s Tinsley Ellis….He sings like a man possessed and wields a mean lead guitar.” Ellis, along with special guest Sean Kistler will be at the Fat Fish Pub on Tuesday, June 11th for a 6:00 pm show. Ellis has shared the stage with names like Warren Haynes, the Allman Brothers Band, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Buddy Guy. He’s among the nominees for blues-rock artist of the year for the 40th Annual Blues Music Awards – along with names like Kenny Wayne Shepard, Eric Gales, and Billy F. Gibbons. “I’ve been nominated about a half dozen times at this point and I’ve only won once for Blues-Rock Album of the Year for Tough Love,” Ellis said. “To be nominated is to win so I feel good about that. Recently Living Blues magazine – which is a real traditional blues magazine – has me in there for Blues Artist of the Year. That is…..that’s kind of a stretch…..but I’ll take it.”  Tickets for the June 11th show are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Doors open at Fat Fish Pub at 4:00 pm.
