Jones facing home invasion charge, again

A 23-year-old man made a video appearance in Knox County Circuit Court on Monday for near identical charges he faced last week.

Mark R. Jones Jr made was arrested Sunday afternoon on several charges stemming from a Saturday incident.

According to a Galesburg Police report, officers were dispatched to the 400-block of South Chambers Street for a domestic issue.

A woman advised that a previous boyfriend, Jones, had forced his way into her home and battered her. She said she grabbed a knife and was able to chase him off the property. During the battering, she alleges that he stole her cell phone.

She had been taken to OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.

Court records indicate that during the Monday meeting, bond was set at $5,000. Jones is charged with home invasion, residential burglary, robbery, aggravated domestic battery, criminal trespassing to a residence, two counts of domestic battery causing bodily harm, and a misdemeanor theft charge. The most severe charge being the Class X Home Invasion.

Jones was in court on April 17th in a case with similar charges. He was facing felony counts of home invasion, criminal trespassing to a residence, domestic battery causing bodily harm, and a misdemeanor charge of child endangerment.

That trial went to arraignment but according to court records Jones plead to domestic battery and the rest of the charges were dismissed. As part of the plea, he received 20 days of incarceration (with 20 days of credit), a year of probation, and $797 in court costs.
