Galesburg man pleads guilty, gets 3 years for stolen vehicle and forgery

A 24-year-old Galesburg man took a plea deal from prosecutors on Thursday that will send him to prison for possessing a stolen vehicle out of Springfield.Kyle Millikin also plead guilty to attempted theft and forgery charges and was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment with 125 days already served.

Millikin’s sentence will be followed by 2 years of parole.

Galesburg police began pursuing a GMC Sierra on that Millikin was driving on Nov. 30, 2018 after realizing it had been reported stolen.

The chase of Millikin reached high speeds, crossed into Warren County and several times officers called it off temporarily out of concern for public safety.

Police eventually apprehended him after he crashed the truck and attempted to flee on foot.

Officers also wrote in their reports that Millikin had cashed a forged check.

Millikin had been released on parole after serving around four months for felony theft out of Kankakee County, and was about three months from completing parole.
