Raritan man leads police on 4-county chase

A Raritan man has been arrested after leading police officers on a chase across four Southeast Iowa counties, and stealing a car in the process.

Lee County Sheriff Stacy Weber says 39-year-old Travis Peterson is charged with 2nd-degree theft, eluding, and multiple traffic violations after a pursuit on Friday afternoon.

Authorities say Peterson was wanted on several warrants from a previous pursuit when he was located by deputies on Friday.

Peterson led police on a chase through Henry and into Lee County where he crashed his car and stole another vehicle on 130th street.

The chase continued through Lee and into Van Buren County where the stolen vehicle was disabled with stop sticks.

According to KBUR in Burlington, Peterson will also be charged with eluding and multiple traffic violations for the previous pursuit with Des Moines County deputies on March 14th.
