Burglary at former Uptown Bar and Grill

Investigators are looking into a burglary that occurred sometime between Monday evening and Tuesday night to a former Galesburg bar.

According to a police report, officers were called out to the former Uptown Bar and Grill on North Chambers Street for a reported theft of electronics and games – estimated to be over $60,000 – at around 12:19 Wednesday morning.

Items taken included several televisions, a dozen speakers, amplifiers, two game systems, lighting equipment, and various board and card games.

Steven “Champ” Coleman, Uptown’s owner, told police that he checks the establishment daily and had last checked on the bar Monday at around 4:00 p.m.

When he stopped by the business at around 11:45 Tuesday night, he noticed tracks in the snow leading to a window, subsequently found an entry point and found the bar had been robbed.

The investigation is ongoing.
