Food, music, shows, and trivia this weekend

Enjoy a meal for a good cause or catch a show this weekend. The Annual Avon Fire Department Soup Supper is being held Saturday, January 19th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm for a free will donation.

The Kewanee High School Theatre Department presents Mamma Mia! this weekend. Mamma Mia! is the story of a bride-to-be trying to find her real father told using hit songs by the popular 1970s group ABBA. Held in the Kewanee High School Petersen Auditorium, the musical will be presented Saturday, January 19th at 7:00 pm and Sunday, January 20th at 2:00 pm. Doors open a half-hour before each performance. Tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for students.

Sunday, January 20th is a Trivia Night for the Oneida Post 727 Baseball team held at Kewanee Dunes Country Club. The cost is $200 per 8-person team – check in begins at 4:30 pm. The night includes a raffle, silent auction and bottomless wings until 7:00pm. To register, call 335-4851.

The long-awaited opening of a new local business is welcoming the public this weekend. Hidden Hills Vineyard and Winery’s Grand Opening is Saturday, January 19th from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Located at 120 Hidden Drive in Knoxville, the winery will have live music throughout the day, tours of the facility every hour, and hor d’oeuvres will be served. Hidden Hills will be serving wine by the glass or bottle plus beer and soda as well.
The Prairie Players Civic Theatre is hosting “That’s Entertainment Trivia Night” Saturday, January 19th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The cost is $10 per person per 10-person team and will be challenged with questions on Broadway, comedy, drama, Shakespeare, movies, musicals, tv and more. Doors open at 6:00 pm.
There’s also an overload of live entertainment locally this weekend. Classic rock group LP33 will take over Cactus Country Saturday, January 19th from 8:00 pm to 12:00 am. Fat Fish Pub will host alternative country artist Ramblin’ Deano of Waco Brothers Solo Show Saturday, January 19th from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm. American indie rock group Wild Pink and special guests will be performing at Budde’s Saturday, January 19th starting at 9:00 pm.
