County Board to shuffle committees, consider nursing home advisory board

The Knox County Board could approve a re-organizational shuffle of committees at tonight’s meeting.

Board documents indicate that the county’s Finance and Landfill/Highway/Assessor/Zoning committees will remain intact, minus a few changes in committee membership, while the Sheriff/Jail/Courthouse/Mary Davis Home committee loses the Nursing Home, which will be its own committee with Tara Wilder operating as chair.

Documents also indicate that the county’s Building Committee will be absorbed into the Sheriff/Mary Davis Home committee.

Additionally, the county board could approve the establishment of a nursing home ad hoc advisory board made up of ten local community professionals and other individuals with backgrounds in nursing home operation or healthcare. Relevant backgrounds would include health care marketing, state regulations for a nursing home in both the private and public sectors.

They will be tasked with identifying operations of the Knox County Nursing Home and address strengths and weaknesses of the nursing home facility.

Going forward the advisory board will be responsible for meeting quarterly and assist the nursing home administrator and county board with oversight of operations.

The Knox County Board meets Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. at the Galesburg City Council Chambers at City Hall.
