More solar farm conditional use permits to be considered by Knox Co. Board

Four more conditional use permits will be considered at Wednesday night’s Knox County Board meeting.

Three of the permits were filed by Sustainable Holdings LLC, care of Sunrise Solar Energy Ventures, to operate a pair of two-megawatt solar farms at each location. The third permit was filed by DG Illinois Solar.

If both are approved, two pairs of solar farms could be located along Route 41, south of Galesburg. The first being north of the train underpass, the other being south of it.

Another permit could see a solar farm go up along Grand Avenue, just north of Galesburg Builders Supply Company. The final permit is for a property along Knox Road 2300 East, to the southeast of Yates City.

Additionally, the Knox County Nursing Home could be forgiven of a nearly $156,000 debt.

County board members will consider forgiving a loan from the Nursing Home Referendum account after it was approved by the Finance Committee last week. If the loan gets forgiven, the nursing home would most likely finish the year in the black, after a long time of running a deficit.

The county board will also consider the Tax Levy and County Budget for the coming fiscal year, as well as approving secretarial services agreement with Watson-Thomas Funeral Home at a cost of $3,600 a year.

A resolution to restrict building expenditures during the next fiscal years to just emergency projects will also be considered.

The Knox County Board meets at the Galesburg City Council Chambers at 6:00 p.m.
