Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign needs help

The Galesburg Salvation Army says time is ticking for the agency to be able help residents in need throughout the coming year.

Officials say the Salvation Army has only raised about 13 percent of their $100,000 goal for the annual Red Kettle Campaign with a little more than three weeks to go.

They provide food, clothing, and other needs to less-fortunate families in the area.

In addition to the Red Kettle campaign, the Knox County YMCA will be collecting new socks and underwear the first full week of December that they will give to the Salvation Army, and Salvation Army Angel Trees at, among other locations, Wal-Mart will help provide toys to needy children at Christmas.

As for the Red Kettles, they’re located at a number of local retailers like Hy-Vee, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, and others, with a number of local restaurants having table-top Red Kettles as well.

The Salvation Army also says bell ringers at their Red Kettle sites. You can find out how to help in that regard by CLICKING HERE.
