OSF St. Mary receives high grade in patient safety.

OSF Healthcare provides some of the safest hospitals in the state. OSF St. Mary Medical Center is Galesburg is one of six hospitals in Illinois that, for five years now, has received an A grade in patient safety by national watchdog organization Leapfrog. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is a public service provided by The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit organization committed to driving quality, safety, and transparency in the U.S. health system. Hospitals are assigned a letter grade: A through F, that are based on 27 different measures of patient safety that includes patient care management, maternity care, medication safety, and frequency of healthcare-associated infection. Grades can be publicly viewed here. OSF St. Mary President Jennifer Junis said in a statement, “It’s great to see our efforts recognized this way….our employees are committed to serve with excellence.” OSF Heart of Mary in Urbana, OSF St. Anthony’s in Alton, and OSF St. Joseph in Bloomington also all received A grades. OSF St. Anthony in Rockford, OSF Sacred Heart in Danville, and OSF St. Francis in Peoria all received B grades. Other area hospitals include McDonough Hospital in Macomb and Graham Hospital in Canton receiving A’s. Tinity Moline, Trinity Rock Island, and Genesis Medical Center in Silvis all received C grades. Unity Point Health – Proctor in Peoria received a D.
