County moving forward with energy efficiency proposals

An energy efficiency project that was greenlit at the October Knox County Board meeting continues to move forward.

David Kluskens, Project Director with Smart Watt, spoke at Tuesday night’s building committee meeting on some specifics regarding the request for qualifications that the county would be sending out to other contractors who specialize in energy efficiency work.

Qualification packages would help the county pick qualified contractors for the guaranteed energy saving work that, up to this point, Smart Watt has been facilitating.

The due date for the qualification packages was scheduled for December 7th, prior to the next building committee meeting on the 11th.

Additionally, a mandatory onsite visit was scheduled for November 28th. That visit would give interested contractors a chance to walk through county-owned facilities to assist with their proposals.

A handful of other requirements were discussed, such as requiring that qualified contractors have 10 years of experience in guaranteed energy savings.

The Knox County Board meets on November 28th.
