Another prestigious award to Thrushwood Farms

An award-winning local business continues to gain more notoriety for their work in the meat processing industry.

Thrushwood Farms Quality Meats Inc., as well as owner and CEO Jim Hankes, has been bestowed the Richard L. Knowlton Award from Meating Place, a publication for people that are “in-the-know” with regards to the meat processing industry.

Hankes tells WGIL that this award will help bring more recognition to the Galesburg based business, “It’ll do nothing obviously but help us get more recognition.”

The award comes as Thrushwoods is in the middle of an expansion that is more than doubling their warehouse space. “A lot of people that we co-pack for, they recognize this award and it’ll do nothing but help us [continue to grow.]” The expansion is expected to be completed in early 2019.

Meating Place Publisher Bill Kinross says, quote, “Thrushwood Farms is a class example of the ways that meat processing firms feed their communities, with food, yes, but also with creativity, leadership, and commitment to the community and the industry.”

Criteria for the Knowlton award include exceptional business and industry leadership, innovation, and corporate citizenship.
