$1M Bond set in Galesburg man’s Attempted Murder case

Bond has been set at $1 million in a Galesburg man’s attempted murder case.

Dennis M. Little III made a video appearance in Knox County Circuit Court on Wednesday afternoon on felony charges from an incident that resulted in his arrest Tuesday, the most severe being a Class X charge of Attempted First-Degree Murder. A conviction of this charge carries a 20 to 80-year sentence in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Little is accused of trying to stab a Galesburg Police officer with two knives during an incident at Moon Towers, at 255 West Tompkins Street, on Tuesday.

Little also faces a Class 2 Felony of Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer, two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, and a misdemeanor charge of Criminal Trespass to State Land.

Assistant State’s Attorney Sabrina Stroops requested a bail of $500,000 in the case. Judge Raymond A. Cavanaugh said while setting bail, “Mr. Little, it looks like you can’t get out of your way.” He added that he’s not sure if Little is a danger to the public as much as law enforcement.

Stroops did say that Little had prior felony convictions, and had previously threatened a public official.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for November 19th.
