County could create new advisory committee for Nursing Home

An idea has been floated regarding the creation of a volunteer advisory committee to help oversee the Knox County Nursing Home.

The idea was shared with county board members at Wednesday night’s meeting by Board members Jared Hawkinson and David Amor.

The committee would be made up of people with relevant skills to the operation of a nursing facility including backgrounds in medical, insurance, legal, and state government according to board member Amor.

Hawkinson advised fellow board members that the county would still provide direction and authority over the nursing home, but the advisory committee would just provide information.

More work was required before the board took any action on the creation of this volunteer advisory committee.

It should also be noted, that finances have greatly improved the nursing home. The indication is that the nursing home is treading to be getting out of the red.
