$20,000 bond in Galesburg man’s meth possession case

A Galesburg man made a video appearance in Knox County Circuit Court on Thursday on a meth possession charge following a Wednesday arrest.

A detention hearing was held for 34-year-old Ronald K. Warden with Judge Raymond A. Cavanaugh, who set bond at $20,000 and appointed the public defender in his case.

According to a Galesburg Police report, officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of 100 Pine Street at around 4:31 in the afternoon after identifying Warden as driving on a suspended license. It is indicated in the report that Warden had previous dealings with the Galesburg Police Department for illegal narcotics.

According to the report, Warden made a motion that he was going to flee, prompting officers to pull out their tasers and aim them at him. Warden backed down and was removed from the vehicle and arrested.

It is alleged that Warden advised officers he had “dope” in his pocket, leading to the discovery of six grams of a substance, that would field test positive for methamphetamine, in a plastic baggie and black magnet container.

Judge Cavanaugh also set a bond rehearing for October 17th and a preliminary hearing for October 29th.
