The Discovery Depot Children’s Museum in Galesburg has brought back one of the facility’s bigger fundraising events of the year. The 3rd Annual “Boos and Brews” event is being held Thursday night from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Executive Director of Discovery Depot, Denise Bradburn tells WGIL there’s a bit of a new twist this year: “We always do a sports-themed type venue,” Bradburn said. “This year the bartenders are competing against one another to fill their tip jar or helmet or whatever they have on the bar. So we’ve put together a great list of competitors. They’re already, kind of, talkin’ the talk to one another.” Those guest bartenders include: Rhonda Houzenga & Trent Cox of F&M Bank versus Lance Edding of Midwest Bank of Western Illinois, Cottage Rehab & Sports Medicine versus Azer Rehab, Cheri Hosteng of Bullis & Sundberg Insurance versus C.C. Wilcox of Envision Insurance, and Knox College Head Football Coach Damon Tomeo versus Monmouth College Head Football Coach Chad Braun. The night will also include a live auction and raffles. Proceeds from the event go towards operation funding for the Depot. Discovery Depot offers over 20 different programs each month, and the fundraising helps keep admission costs low. Tickets are $25 at the door, or $20 in advance from the front desk at Discovery Depot, Iron Spike or any of the Depot’s board members and will include craft beer and wine samples.
