Abingdon man facing home invasion felony

An Abingdon man is facing several felonies after his weekend arrest on a $1,000,000 warrant.

29-year-old Ryan A. Swank is charged with several felonies including Class X Home Invasion, Class 2 Robbery, Class 4 Violating an Order of Protection, two counts of Class 4 Domestic Battery, and a Class A Misdemeanor charge of Child Endangerment. The alleged incident took place on September 20th.

Swank made a video appearance in Knox County Circuit Court on Monday where Judge Raymond A. Cavanaugh appointed the public defender to represent him and set a preliminary hearing for October 15th.

According to reports, Swank was arrested on Sunday after Galesburg police officers received a tip that he was at Menards on Veterans Drive. According to the reports he was found riding passenger in a truck registered to him.

Reports indicate that officers detected the odor of cannabis emanating from the vehicle and searched it. They allegedly found part of a cannabis cigar and a digital scale that had white powder residue on it. That residue would eventually field test positive for methamphetamine.

As of Monday afternoon, Swank did not have any drug charges filed against him. Swank also had a separate case against him for Violating an Order of Protection from August 13th. In that case, a $5,000 bond was set, but it was revealed in court that he had already posted bail.
