Teens arrested after two-county police chase

Two area teenagers are accused of leading police from at least two counties on a chase following a report of a home break-in.

Warren County Sheriff Martin Edwards says it started around 12:30 Friday morning when a man reported the break-in in the Alexis area. Edwards says a vehicle, later determined to be stolen, left town going west, and allegedly refused to stop for police.

A chase ensued, but the vehicle’s two occupants fled on foot after the car ended up going through a fence and into a pasture in rural Mercer County.

Edwards says a State Police helicopter got involved, and along with a Warren County K-9, located the two, who were determined to be two 15-year-old boys.

The two were arrested and taken to the Knox County Mary Davis Home in Galesburg, facing charges including burglary, attempted residential burglary, vehicle theft, and aggravated fleeing and eluding.
