Les Moonves out at CBS

Les Moonves has stepped down from CBS Corporation as new allegations of sexual assault and harassment have surfaced.

Earlier on Sunday, the New Yorker published new accusations against the CBS chairman and CEO from six women. This comes about six weeks after the magazine published Ronan Farrow‘s first expose on the TV mogul. In a statement to the New Yorker, Moonves acknowledged three of the encounters but claimed that they were consensual.

CBS says it will donate $20 million on Moonves and the network’s behalf to an organization that supports #MeToo. According to TMZ, the money will come out of any severance benefits owed to the former head honcho.

In a statement, Moonves says, “Untrue allegations from decades ago are now being made against me that are not consistent with who I am. Effective immediately I will no longer be Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CBS. I am deeply saddened to be leaving the company. I wish nothing but the best for the organization, the newly comprised board of directors and all of its employees.”
