Pilots from around the globe come to Galesburg for the National Stearman Fly-In

For 47 years now, pilots from around the world embark on a journey to Galesburg in their World War II-era Stearman planes.The Stearman Fly-In begins Monday, September 3rd, runs all week-long, and is free to the public. Whether you wish to take to the air, or stay on the ground, there’s plenty of activities for everyone. Things will official begin with a fly-over during the Galesburg Labor Day Parade at 10:00 am Monday, September 3rd. Narrated tram rides take place throughout the entire week – the cost is only $1 per person. Also throughout the week are fun flying events, buddy hops, hangar flying and food and merchandise vendors. The public is invited to register for Stearman Rides. Each day this week a series of seminars, presentations, demonstrations and stories featuring pilots, flights, and planes will take place at the Galesburg Municipal Airport. Friday, September 7th guests can see flour bombing and spot landing contests and short field take-offs. Saturday, September 8th will feature the bulk of family attractions with kids flight simulators, a formation flying contest and aerobatics demonstration.
