Bond set for two men on separate meth charges

Two Galesburg men had bond set in separate methamphetamine possession cases yesterday in Knox County Circuit Court.

29-year old Corey J. Lawson and 28-year-old Richard L. Stigner made video court appearances with Judge Scott Shipplett on Thursday where bond was set at $5,000.

Both men face a class 3 felony of possession of fewer than five grams of meth, however, Lawson is also facing a class A misdemeanor of domestic battery.

Police reports indicate that both men were found with glass smoking devices on them. In Stigner’s case, residue from the device tested positive for the presence of meth.

For Lawson, he was found with 1-point-7 grams of the drug in three bags. Officers were called out to a residence on North Seminary for domestic battery which led to his detainment.

Both men will be back in court on September 4th for a preliminary hearing.
