A prayer vigil for Aretha Franklin was held this morning (Wednesday) at the Detroit church once led by her father. More than 75 people were on hand at the New Bethel Baptist Church, including 10 ministers and deacons from several other area churches. Aretha’s executive assistant, Fanny Tyler, accepted a bouquet of flowers from New Bethel on her behalf. The singer has made substantial donations to the church and the community over the decades.
