Bond set for man in felony domestic violence case

Bond was set at $7,500 for a Galesburg man accused of felony domestic battery among several other charges.

27-year-old Brent M. Clark made a video court appearance in Knox County Circuit Clerk on Tuesday with Judge Paul L. Mangieri who set bond and appointed the public defender’s office to represent him.

Clark’s most severe charge is a Class 1 Felony of Disarming a Police Officer. He also faces an Aggravated Domestic Battery, Domestic Battery Causing Great Bodily Harm and a Resisting Police charge.

According to reports, a domestic violence investigation led officers to Clark who was hiding in the basement of an East Main Street home.

Clark appeared as though he would turn himself over to officers, but reports indicate that he tried to push past them and run.

A scuffle with officers ensued with police having to use a Taser on him several times. During the incident, he had allegedly slapped one taser out of an officers hand and reached for an officer’s holstered handguns.

Clark will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on August 27th.
