Danny Scott awarded by city for historic home restoration

The City of Galesburg is recognizing the work of Danny Scott for his work on a historic home in town.

Scott received the City’s Community Improvement Blue Ribbon Award for remodeling 968 North Broad Street.

Scott, who owns Danny Scott Builders and Sons, completely overhauled the home’s exterior and constructed a new garage according to the award’s nomination form filled out by Galesburg Fire Chief and Galesburg on Track leader, Tom Simkins.

Simkins says the home that was built in 1896 has had its “historic architecture” maintained through Scott’s work.

The Community Improvement Blue Ribbon Award is an initiative of the city that recognizes citizens and businesses that have improved the exterior of a property through landscaping, painting, signage or general cleanup.

The city encourages residents to continue to send in their nominations for the award, which can be found on the city’s website or by going to the Planning and Public Works department at City Hall.

Awards are considered every month with nominations being due on the 25th.
