Details out on arrest caught on video

Information has been released regarding Facebook video that shows an altercation between a man and three Galesburg police officers.

In the video it appears as officers wrestle a man to the ground, force him into handcuffs and apply pepper spray and a taser to him.

According to reports the individual, 21-year-old Christopher E. Alfero, was being stopped because of a traffic violation when officers observed loose cannabis. He allegedly was also trying to hide cannabis between his seat and the center console.

He was asked to step out and away from the vehicle. He allegedly put his hand on the officer in an attempt to shut the vehicle door prompting the altercation between him and police.

During the struggle, Alfero allegedly had his keys in his hand and was cutting officers with them. Reports indicate one officer received several cuts to his hands and lacerations to his arms.

Attempts to remove his keys proved unsuccessful and pepper spray was deployed to get him to let go of them. When that failed a taser was used.

He was taken to Cottage Hospital for medical evaluation. Reports indicate at the hospital he was cooperative and polite to officers and nursing staff.

Following his discharge he was transported to the Knox County Jail.
