Galesburg man arrested on warrants and now more charges

On Thursday evening, while on patrol, Galesburg Police identified Jesse R. Finley walking southbound on West Street from Casey’s General Store. Officers recognized Finley, 27, from previous encounters, and knew a Knox County Warrant for his arrest had been issued. When officers approached Finley, he became visibly nervous. He was told to remain stationary as back up officers were already in route. Then when officers went to place Finley under arrest, he became combative and uncooperative. During a scuffle with two officers, Finley attempted to dispose of a glass pipe on him which hit a squad car and broke after he threw it. After a search for contraband, officers collected the broken glass pipe which field tested positive for Methamphetamine.
A baggie containing 2.6 grams of an unknown white powder did NOT test positive for meth, which Finley admitted was not meth. In his possession, Finley also had three twenty dollar bills with Chinese markings on them. Finley was arrested and charged for his outstanding warrant, forgery, possession of Methamphetamine, possession of a look-a-like substance, and felony resisting arrest. Finley was booked in the Knox County Jail awaiting a court appearance.
