Knoxville church service held at KHS auditorium as renovation continues.

Community Bible Church in Knoxville is getting some much-needed attention.

For the past several Sundays, the congregation has been holding sermons at the Knoxville High School Auditorium as work is getting done. Pastor Bill White has been with the church for about 2 and a half years. He says the church is 17 years old, and using the KHS auditorium provides the congregation a preview of some of the changes at the church. “I think it’ll be a neat environment,” White said. “We’re so blessed at the church where we have so many volunteers to give time to accomplish these projects. Our church is debt-free which in an incredible blessing. Concrete is probably one of the most expensive projects we’ll be doing, but we had already had some set aside this year in our budget, and the congregation stepped up with some additional pledges. So really, we have it covered.” Outside, the church is getting a playground for kids, some sand, fencing, a sidewalk, a new overhang, and some handicapped parking spaces. Inside, the sanctuary is getting paint, new lighting, better acoustic elements, and redone restrooms. White says using KHS has provided the church with some new members and says they’re grateful for the school district keeping its promise of being open for the community. He expects their last sermon at KHS will be July 29th. Sunday, August 5th, the new-look Community Bible Church will host it’s first sermon. The church is located at 1369 Knox Highway 8.
