GPD investigating armed robbery on Knox Street

Galesburg police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred early Thursday morning.

Officers took a walk-in complaint at the Public Safety Building from a 19-year-old teenager who told police he was walking towards Casey’s General Store at around 4:35.

He told police that as he was walking along Knox Street a vehicle approached him and drove by slowly.

He said the driver of the vehicle asked him if he needed a ride, to which he refused. The driver told him to get into the vehicle or he’d be shot.

The teen ignored the comment and proceeded to walk away, but the driver got out of the vehicle with a gun in his hand.

He was told to empty his pockets, but he froze out of fear. The subject approached him and took a cell phone and $100 from him and left.

Police are investigating and as of 10:00 a.m. Friday morning no arrests have been made.
