Bond set for man who allegedly claimed to be a federal marshal

Bond was set yesterday for a 20-year-old Galesburg man facing several felonies for impersonating a police officer.

Jared K. Fulk made a video court appearance in Knox County Circuit Court and faces five counts of impersonating an officer following a Wednesday arrest where it is alleged he claimed to be a U.S. Marshal.

According to police reports, officers were flagged down by a woman who claimed a man was trying to take her daughter at a residence in the 1100 block of East North Street. She added that the man claimed he was a federal officer.

The woman’s daughter told police that Fulk questioned her about harassment towards him and his family. Then asked her if she had drugs or alcohol on her. Allegedly he then tried to arrest her by putting her hands behind her back.

Police were able the man as he left the scene, eventually apprehending him near Lee Brothers Welding.

He was arrested with a black “POLICE” stocking cap, and a green utility belt with knives on him. With the help of a K-9 unit, officers located another knife that had been discarded along Fulk’s path.

Judge Raymond Cavanaugh set Fulk’s bond at $50,000 and scheduled a preliminary hearing for June 4th.
