Bond set in Class X meth lab case

Bond has been set at $500,000 for an Abingdon man arrested on Saturday after officers discovered a meth lab in the basement of a residence.

According to court records, 34-year-old Brandon R. Cox made video court appearance in Knox County Circuit Court with Judge Raymond A. Cavanaugh on Monday.

Formal charges filed against Cox include Class X Felony of Aggravated Meth Manufacturing, Class 2 Felonies of Meth Related Child Endangerment and Possession of Meth Making Materials, Class 3 Felonies of Possession of Meth under 5 grams and Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, and a Class A Misdemeanor of Domestic Battery.

As part of the bond, Cox is to have no contact with the victim who reported the domestic violence charges against him.

He is due back in court on May 21st for a preliminary hearing.
