Be a super hero with CASA’s 5K and Fun Run/Walk

CASA of West Central Illinois is hosting the organizations 5th Annual “Be a Superhero for Kids 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk” Saturday, April 28th.

Executive Director of CASA of West Central Illinois, Sara Robison tells WGIL the run/walk is a great family-oriented event. “We’ve had mothers and daughter, fathers and sons come out and run the 5K together with younger kids who are getting ready to run their first race,” Robison said. “We’ve had several people use it as the first 5k that they’ve ever done. The 1-mile is great for all ages. It’s not just for kids, but then again, it does make a great family event for folks.” Funds raised from the event will help provide for the training and support of the volunteers who take their time to speak up for the best interest of the abused and neglected children of Knox, Warren and Henderson Counties. The 5K and 1 Mile run/walk is taking place at Lake Storey where the course will utilize the paved trails. Those with wagons and strollers are encouraged to come. Sign -up and registration begins Saturday (April 28th) morning at 7:00 am, the 5k starts at 9:00am – the run/walk begins at 9:15. Prizes will be awarded to top finishers and for the best superhero costumes.  To register, visit CASA’s “get me registered” website.
