Wallet taken in theft from motor vehicle

A wallet was taken from a vehicle early on Wednesday.

Galesburg police officers were dispatched to Duffield Avenue at 1:21 a.m. for the call of a theft from a motor vehicle.

According to police reports, the victim told officers his wallet had been taken from his vehicle in the driveway.

The victim’s son had opened a side door to the driveway when they observed a subject inside the vehicle. He told police he was not able to see what the subject looked like, but determined they were female based on their voice and that she was wearing a black jacket with a hood.

The female subject was startled and said that she was on her way home and left.

The victim told officers he tries to not leave property inside of the vehicle, but forgot his wallet this time.

The police report indicated that the wallet contained a drivers license, social security card, and a bank debit card.
