Peoria Riverfront Museum caters to Knox County residents Wednesday, March 28th

The Peoria Riverfront Museum has embraced Illinois’ Bicentennial celebration with shows, exhibits, presentations, and events. The museum’s bicentennial celebration is going on now through June 3rd. Cathie Neumiller the Vice President of Marketing and Communications for the Riverfront Museum tells WGIL that Wednesday is the “late day” for the museum. She says Wednesday, March 28th at the museum is also a day designated to Knox County. “All exhibits (and) daytime planetarium shows are free and open to anyone with a Knox County I.D. (including) anyone from Knox College – who may not live in Knox County are welcome too,” Neumiller said. “Knox County….your state I.D…..Knox (College) student I.D. will get you in the door.” The “Celebrate Illinois: 200 Years in the Land of Lincoln ” bicentennial exhibition has on display dozens of Galesburg, Carl Sandburg & Knox College artifacts. Many items from Knox College’s Seymour Library are on display in the exhibit. “At 5:00 pm, Mayor John Pritchard will be down with John Morris, our CEO, and will be doing a tour of the exhibit and a meet and greet,” Neumiller added. “Then at 6:30 pm there is a free showing of “America’s Musical Journey” which is an interesting film (that) highlights the music and where it came from in the U.S.” Neumiller says attendees can see an IHSA interactive display, the Children’s Discovery Worlds, and Dome Planetarium shows – that begin at 11:30 am. Galesburg’s Evening News will also be broadcasting live from the Peoria Riverfront Museum tomorrow at 5:00pm.
