A section of Whitesboro Street in Galesburg will close to through traffic starting next Tuesday while road reconstruction is performed.
This section runs from Main Street to Campbell Street, after last October the section from Campbell to North was worked on.
This latest round will begin at 7 a.m. on Tuesday Mar. 27 and will have the street closed for six weeks.
The deteriorating brick road surface will be replace with a full depth concrete pavement and additionally the curb and gutter will be replaced.
It’s also expected that some qualifying homes with have their lead service lines replaced while construction is ongoing.
This $934,000 project was approved by Galesburg City Council in August with Gunther Construction as the approved contractor.
