A vehicle struck an Illinois State Trooper squad car yesterday afternoon while the trooper was attempting to exit the roadway.The ISP car was struck by a Chrysler van east bound on I-74 around mile marker 35.
A news release from ISP says that the trooper as well as the Chrysler’s two occupants were transported to OSF St. Mary Medical Center as a precaution for minor injuries.
All were later released.
The driver of the Chrysler was 58-year old Lelland Sonius of Rock HIll, South Carolina who was cited for failure to reduce speed avoid a crash.
