Galesburg residents should be aware of a recent burglary and make sure homes are secured and valuables are locked up.
Police officers responded to the 2,000-block of Baird Avenue for a burglary in progress around 7 P-M on Friday.
According to police reports, the victim told officers she was sitting at her home alone when she heard movement inside the home.
She assumed it was only a family member, but became suspicious when no one said anything to her about being there.
She went to investigate and discovered her purse was missing. Inside were credit and debit cards, checkbook, drivers license, and social security card.
Officers identified a broken window pane above a rear door that had been broken – providing an entry way into the home.
No arrests have been made in the theft.
