A fundraiser to help support Honor Flight of the Quad Cities will be held Saturday, March 10th at the Monmouth American Legion. Doors will open at 4:30 pm, a silent auction will be held from 4:30 to 7:00 pm, and a buffet-style spaghetti dinner will be served beginning at 5:30 pm. Gwen Gladfelter with Compassus Hospice, who is a sponsor, tells WGIL that Leo Ramer will be providing patriotic entertainment for attendees starting at 6:00 pm. “The veterans that attend will be given a “Proud Veteran – We Honor Veterans” ball cap,” Gladfelter said. “Any wife, mother, or sister of veterans will be given a white rose. When Leo does the patriotic, military medley they play, veterans will stand at their branch. It just moves everybody’s heart.” The Monmouth-Roseville Men’s Glee Club will also be providing music as well.
The Alexis Fire Equipment Company’s 26th annual Open House is Saturday, March 10th from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm featuring live music, food, vendors, and merchandise specials. Another supper for a good cause will be Saturday at the First Christian Church in Knoxville. The church’s soup supper featuring chili and vegetable soup will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children.
Carl Sandburg College is hosting a couple of fundraisers on Saturday, March 10th. The Phi Theta Kappa “Let’s Bowl” Fundraiser at Northgate Lanes is Saturday from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm to help send members to the PTK national convention. Tickets are $15 dollars at the door or $12 in advance from a PTK member. The Business and Accounting Society of Sandburg is holding a B.A.S.S. Trivia Night Saturday from 5:00 pm to 9:30 pm at Cherry Street in Galesburg. Attendees can buy a trivia and taco bar ticket for $25 or just a trivia ticket for $15. Teams of 8 in various categories will compete and the night will also feature a silent auction and raffle.
Saturday afternoon is the Spring Fling Bingo at the Christian Church of Abingdon from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. For $5 per person, you can play 10 rounds of bingo for prizes. Proceeds will go towards Feed My Lambs. Also Saturday night is the 31st Annual Costa Catholic Academy auction from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Cocktail hour will be at 5:00 pm, a silent auction will be held from 5:00 to 7:30 pm, dinner starts at 6:30, and the auction begins at 8:15 pm.
