Finance Committee approves proposal deadline for compensation analysis

The Knox County Finance Committee approved the setting of a deadline for a compensation analysis proposal to be submitted to the board.

The compensation analysis would look at the creation of a pay-scale for non-union employees.

Previously some non-exempt county employees in administration positions came before the committee to share that they were being paid less than employees under them, or other administrators with the same responsibilities.

The board had held it as a discussion item on last month’s board meeting, but very little was done.

County Clerk Scott Erickson set a 60 day window for proposals to be completed and returned to the county, with the final day being April 30th.

Additionally the county will be interviewing new labor attorney firms, with possible interview dates being March 7th, 8th, 13th, and 14th.

The Finance Committee also approved several technology upgrades.

The committee approved a bid to upgrade the county board’s iPads. Total cost to the county would be $8,080.10 and include 17 tablets.

Erickson says that with the current iPads getting older and board packages being so large for download, this would work nicely.

The committee also approved a proposal to begin accepting bids for I.T. server upgrades including onsite installation and support.

Board member Bob Bondi brought up that several programs are within six months of no longer being supported, so this upgrade was coming in at a good time.

The committee also approved the emergency heating bill for the failed heating units at the Knox County Courthouse from MSI for around $40,000.
