A male juvenile has died after he was pulled from a frozen pond.
According to a press release from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, on Friday deputies received a call for a missing juvenile in the Alexis area.
Eventually he was found and recovered from a pond in the area and transported to a Galesburg area hospital where it was pronounced he had passed.
The Mercer County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Alexis Police Department, Alexis Fire Department, Monmouth Fire Department Cold Water Rescue Team, and the Canton, Illinois Dive Team.
The incident remains under investigation. The name of the juvenile has not been released at this time.
