Stronghurst man charged with burglary and arson

A Stronghurst man has been arrested on charges of burglary in arson for allegedly setting flame to an unoccupied residence in Oquawka. Henderson County Sheriff’s Department say they arrested 24-year old Jessie J. Bowman yesterday.

The residence was under construction for remodeling according to a department release and Bowman allegedly entered late in the evening of Friday Feb. 9.

Once in the building Bowman is believed to have started a fire which caused damage, the extent of which is not detailed .

Bowman’s charges, Burglary and Arson, are both Class 2 felonies, which can carry 3 to 7 year prison terms and $25,000 in fines.

He is currently being held in Henderson County Jail on $25,000 bond awaiting an appearance in Henderson County Circuit Court.
