205 to hear feedback on substitute teacher issues

The District 205 Board of Education meets tonight for a regularly scheduled meeting. 

The board continues to advertise the need in staff shortages which include: speech, special ed teachers, school psychologists, paraprofessionals and substitute teachers.

Human Resources Director Jonathan Bradburn gathered feedback from teachers in regards to addressing substitute teacher issues.

Feedback included the accumulation of personal days for subs, a bonus for not using sick days, an admin pass to be a sub for a day, lunch for subs, training, and perks like a Y membership and parking spots among others.

Board members will consider approval of revised job descriptions for maintenance and custodian work throughout the high school as well as a transportation agreement with First Student to extend services through June of 2019.

The board will consider the approval of the 2018-19 school calendar and the GHS baseball team traveling to Omaha Nebraska for a tournament in June.

On first reading, the board will consider the approval of giving F&M Bank naming rights to the stadium surrounding Van Dyke Field, the weight rooms, tennis courts, and athletic complex.

The board meets Monday at 6:00 p.m.
