County Board to consider inventory assessment and additional gate fee for landfill

Tonight the Knox County Board will consider a proposal provided by CBIZ Valuation Group to asses and value the county’s property and grounds.

The proposal – which passed the finance committee earlier in the month – would give the county an accurate value for insurance purposes, as well as give administrators a proper inventory of vehicles, equipment, and more.

Also on the agenda are several resolutions for the county landfill – which include raising the gate fee two dollars.

According to board documents, the resolution will see the gate fee increase by two dollars, with one dollar of that being directed to the county’s building fund.

The fee increase is not permanent – as indicated by board members at last week’s finance committee meeting – but is typically been annually approved.

The resolution was proposed because the state of Illinois is not expected to live up to it’s obligation to fund certain line items in the county’s budget.

Additionally, the board will consider an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Galesburg regarding the deposit of the municipal solid waste at the landfill – as well as bid for diesel fuel for the Highway and Landfill departments.

Tonight’s meeting will be at the courthouse – following the Galesburg City Council’s decision to hold off on approving the county boards move to the city council chambers.
