Workforce Development Week aims to assist job-seekers

Monday through Friday is Workforce Development Week.
The Workforce Innovation Board of Western Illinois has organized a variety of job-related services for Knox County this week.

Mike Haptonstahl, Operations Manager for the Knox County Workforce tells WGIL, employed or not, resume updating and refreshing is always important.

“I think it’s always a matter of someone who’s looking for work particularly just trying to keep aware of what options there are and utilize whatever options they are A: most comfortable with and B: what will get them noticed by employers,” Haptonstahl says.

Today from 9:00am – 3:00pm the Knox County Workforce Office on Main Street in Galesburg will offer resume assistance and mock interviews, as well as unemployment insurance filing and Joblink registration.

Also today at Carl Sandburg College in Building B – Student Center, there will be “Interview Bootcamp” from 5:30-7:00pm.

College representatives will offer interview prep, proper dress, body language and more.
Wednesday there is a veterans and seniors fair at the Galesburg American Legion from 10:00am – 1:00pm – sponsored by Representative Dan Swanson.

Another “Interview Bootcamp” will take place at Carl Sandburg College on Friday in Building C from 1:00pm to 2:30pm.
