Next on the menu for former Chez Willy’s owners: retirement

Bill and Brenda Egenlauf last day of operating Chez Willy’s in Galesburg will be August 26th.
This year marks the 18th year the couple have owned and operated the fine dining establishment.

Bill Egenlauf tells WGIL that the timing was right, the conversation was right, – so it was time to pass the restaurant on, and sell.

“It’s something that will take a little time to evolve. Although we’re close to the official retirement age we’ve still got a little time to go so there are some possibilites of some doors opening for us,” Bill says. “We’re not going to say no to anything. We’ll listen to anyone who wants to have a little dialogue with either of us but I won’t be going and opening another restaurant or anything of that nature.”

The Egenlaufs plan to do some travelling and pursue some various hobbies.

Bill says a team coming together, satisfied customers, returning customers, and the execution of the fine dining experience – even the challenges is what he will miss the most.

Although not working will be something new for the Egenlaufs, they welcome it with anticipation.

The restaurant was sold to Ryan Cardwell of Iron Spike.

They intend to stay in the area and are extremely excited to see the direction and plans for what will be formerly Chez Willy’s.
