County Clerk Erickson announces he will seek another term

County Clerk Scott Erickson will seek another term in the office after 13 years in the post.
Erickson counts among his chief accomplishments modernizing the county board process.

When Erickson first came into office he says Clerk staff used to have to copy, bind by hand and mail the packets that board members receive every month.

“So there was a lot of cost involved in that and we converted them over to laptops a while back, saved a ton of money. We then converted from laptops to iPads and have saved additional money,” Erickson says.

Not only is a cost and time savings but Erickson adds it’s a more efficient packet for the board.

The County Clerk’s office handles vital records for the county including birth, marriage and death certificates.

Erickson likes to say that the Clerk’s office sees people in the best of times and the worst of times.

He adds that he’s tried to make it a “public friendly” office, especially since they are geographically the first office in the courthouse.

“A lot of times we’re that first voice or first face at the courthouse and we want to make sure they get pointed in the right directions,” Erickson says.

The primary elections will be held in March 2018 and the General Election in November.
