Monmouth College’s Scots Day of Giving sets single day school record for donations

Monmouth College raised over $168,000 on a single day Tuesday to go towards student financial aid and scholarships. It was the inaugural Scots Day of Giving and aligned with celebrating the school’s 164th anniversary of their founding.

The $168,000 was the largest amount raised in a single day in the liberal arts college’s 164-year history.

The goal for the day was initially to attract 164 donors but that mark was eclipsed by 10 a.m.

They then set a new goal of 309 donors, in a nod to Monmouth’s area code but that was passed by 6:30 p.m., then 418 for the day the college was founded and that was passed by 10:30 p.m.

The final tally taken at 11:53 p.m. had 533 contributions totaling $168,000.

Direction of Alumni Engagement Hannah Maher says she wasn’t that surprised saying that since she started at Monmouth she’s found “alumni, parents and friends of the college to be a remarkable group.”
