Habitat for Humanity busy breaking ground, dedicating and raising funds

Habitat for Humanity continues to build and break ground in the Galesburg community.

Fresh off of their groundbreaking ceremony for House #52 earlier this month and looking ahead to dedicating the completion of House #51, they’re raising funds next Saturday for their 3rd annual trivia night at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

Knox County Habitat Executive Director Jordan Knight says Trivia night comes at a time when Habitat will be pouring foundation for their 52nd house, saying “I’m going to put 5-7 thousand dollars worth of concrete into that foundation. So you might look at it that way, it’s built in half the foundation.”

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the first question will be asked at 7 p.m. by Mr. Trivia.

Mr. Trivia, a familiar face to trivia players, has been hired by Habitat to run the trivia side of the event to leave volunteers open to run the silent auction, snack table and silent auction.

All of those items will go to funding the non-profit but the hungry may also be satiated by members of Knights of Columbus Kitchen crew.

Pre-registration for trivia can be done by emailing info@habitatknox.org and the night of there will be info available for those interested in being partner families or volunteers.

House 52 is located at 1484 South Chambers, which the public is invited to tour at 10 a.m. Saturday April 29.

Habitat for Humanity builds homes with partner families and volunteers and sold to the partner family through a 25-year, 0 percent interest loan.
