Chairwoman Davidson reveals her picks for committee chairs

Knox County Board Chair Pam Davidson has made her selections to lead the board’s four main committees.
The next step is for the full board to approve the appointments at their meeting Dec. 28.

Democrat Davidson has selected two Democrats and two Republican chairs.

She selected her predecessor as Board Chair Republican Brian Friedrich, to lead the finance committee.

Overseeing financial administration for the county, chair of the finance committee could be considered the second most influential post on the county board.

Current Board Vice-Chair Republican Bob Bondi has been nominated as the chair of what Davidson has called the “caring committee.”

If approved Bondi’s committee will oversee the Nursing Home, Sheriff’s Department, Mary Davis Home and Animal Control.

Democrat John Hunigan is her choice for the highway, landfill, assessor, recorder, GIS committee.

The building committee chair choice, as WGIL reported previously, is Democrat Lyle Johnson.

All of the nominees have served as members of the committees they are being asked to chair, although some committee duties have been shuffled and the number of committees condensed from 5 to 4.
